Rachel's Guatemala photos

Matriarchies

This morning I scanned some of Rachel's photos from Guatemala.

Here we are with the Krummels. Mom likes these generational photos.
On the path to Mom & Paul's
Mom and me on the path, taken from the second floor of Casa Balbin.

Panajachel shore
Rachel took this photo from the boat when we arrived at Panajachel.

Making Italian sausage and chorizo. Paul has all the right equipment. We ate homemade sausage every morning for breakfast.

Thij's lumber for making furniture. The mahogony boards painted yellow belong to Mom and Paul for future projects.

More views of Lake Atitlan

More of Kathryn's photos, taken from the Santa Catarena side of the Lake. I think she does a nice job of capturing the expansive views. Check out her photos on one of the Flickr links: she has more on the serious mudslide damage from the hurricane.

More of Thijs's handcrafted furniture

Handcrafted Table and Chairs
Originally uploaded by Mirado.
These chairs and table were made by Thijs, who is making furniture for Mom and Paul and other lucky people with good taste. This is another of Kathryn's photos; I just had to get it on the blog so Rachel's shop teacher can see it.

The mighty Volvo

Here's Mom and Paul during their journey through Mexico on the way to Guatemala this winter. Rachel and I can attest that the rocking chair strapped to the Volvo is now safe at their new house. The photos were taken by fellow traveler Kathryn, who takes great pictures.
