Announcing Matt's memorial wiki

Matt's memorial wiki is up and running: http://notforgettingmatt.blogspot.com/. I'm the only one who has posted to it so far, except for a recent email from Matt's friend Evan, but that's fine because I knew him the longest and have the most to say about him. Please email me for posting instructions, or just send me stuff and I'll post it myself. I spent a lot of yesterday and today scanning and posting photos and writing a few posts. Eventually I'd like to post some of Matt's art work, but that'll mean digging it out of the crawlspace--not exactly a desirable activity during our hot summer weather. A nice feature of the Blogger template I chose is that it allows one to post fairly large-sized photos without interfering with the page setup. I'm still working on his Blogger Profile. Drew Barone suggested the title, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone thinks of a better one.

Mom and Rachel at 2005 Scholastic Nationals

We didn't see much of Rachel during Nationals because she was always either preparing for a race or resting up for the next one. But I did catch this shot taken before the women's Varsity 8 victory in their semi-final heat (described in a previous entry). Mom was right at home with her new crew t-shirt and JL Sports hat. We were so lucky to have Jane and Tim's chairs with attachable umbrellas to keep out of the ferocious sunshine. We agreed that it was the most fun sporting event either of us had ever attended.

Matt's Obituary

Here is Matt's obituary: The Marietta Times: Matthew Stewart I wrote it as we drove to nationals, with help from Jim, who edited sentences, and Mom, who suggested the Spanish phrase at the end. The photo shows Matt during his sophomore year at Marietta High School, one of three school pictures I have of him. I always liked him with his hair short.
